of June). It was stopped because Kwai Tau Hoi told Lam Chi

that it must be stopped. Lan Chi had a share. Lan Chi was mas- ter of a gambling house at Cheung Hing Lane & Wa Lane. Lan Chi told me to stop the gambling. I stopped it.

By Inspector Stanton:-I am under sentence of 9 months Hard

Labour, I have done hard labour all the time. I am picking

oakum now. I have not done the work before & I feel it hard.

The Superintendent put me on the labour. I was first put to

carrying stone. I could not do it. I told Mr. May I could not

do the work. At that time Mr. May spoke to me about the gail-

bling. He did not tell me that if I told him about the gan-

bling he would put me on light labour. It was not because I

promised to tell all about this that I was put on light la-

bour. I was in Gaol about 10 days when I was spoken to about

the gambling. I was not promised a remission of my sentence

if I would tell about the gambling according to what the

Superintendent wished me to say. I was promised a remission

if I told the truth about the matter. I was not promised any

particular remission. I do not know how much remission I am to get. The Superintendent said he would report to the Go-

vernment
